Safety, Reliability, Trust

Experience over Price

Marine electrical systems: Construction and design are specialized crafts that require knowledge, experience and unique skills specifically geared for the marine industry. Competent contractors and technicians should be the only ones trusted to work within these intricate, delicate and occasionally volatile systems. But how do you know if a company is competent? How can you trust a technician with thousands, sometimes millions of dollars worth of equipment? It starts with the companies track record. The marine electrical industry is small, “niche”, and if/ when you ask around, only a few trustworthy companies stand atop the rest. TESS electric has continually proven to be one of the few trusted electrical service and safety providers for the past 3o years. TESS can handle electrical system repairs, maintenance, and new builds with the knowledge to minimize electrical hazards before they happen. We also pride ourselves on training yacht personnel to handle electrical components and how to properly respond in emergency situations.

Trust in our hands

Yachts, marinas and even smaller vessels can be equipped with both AC and DC systems. Understanding, experience, and maintenance is key to preventing ground system failures. In the marine industry some of these failures can have very dangerous consequences. Our mission is to stop faults and more importantly shock hazard prior to a catastrophic event. TESS can be trusted with maintaining a safe working environment on the docks or while on board any marine vessel. Wiring problems, component failures and the use of improper equipment can potentially injure someone or destroy other critical equipment. Our technicians are trained and prepared to see these events prior to their occurrence, utilizing special monitoring equipment and implementing installation protocols prior to energizing electrical systems is crucial to our process. This saves time, money and even lives. Maintaining our safety standards for the marine industry is our number one priority.

Automation Services

Alarm monitoring and control are vital functions on marine vessels. Tess Electrical’s Automation department focuses on new systems, upgrading or expanding existing systems, and even refitting an entire vessel’s AMCS (Alarm Monitoring Control System) and PMS (Power Managements System) systems. AMCS and PMS are crucial to the safety of a yacht. An AMCS (FT NavVision) system allows yacht personnel, the Captain, Chief Engineer, or any other qualified staff, to be notified  immediately of any disturbance on board. This could be something as minor as a hatch open, to something as catastrophic as engine failure, anything with an output can be monitored. Our systems are designed specifically for each customer, customized to their exact specifications and needs, making a truly safe and efficient system for your yacht. Alarm monitoring is about minimizing risk and maximizing uptime. FT NavVision and our recommended PMS solution, GENSYS, both achieve these goals flawlessly. The definition of safety is “the quality of averting or not causing injury, danger, or loss”. Our automation team can help relieve the stress of maintaining a safe work environment by giving the user information needed to make informed, correct and safe decisions when it comes to the electrical systems.

OSHA Certified Marine Electricians

OSHA 10-Hour/ 30-Hour: All TESS technicians are required to have, at minimum, their OSHA 10-hour program completed. “The OSHA Outreach Training Program for Maritime Industry provides training for workers and employers on the recognition, avoidance, abatement and prevention of safety and health hazards in workplaces in the maritime industry.” The Outreach Training Program
